RULES FOR THE

“EARN WHILE YOU LEARN”
 BIBLE MEMORY CHALLENGE

OVERVIEW OF THE CHALLENGE


  1. The name of the challenge will be “Earn While You Learn.”
  2. There is no cost to participate in this challenge.
  3. The challenge is sponsored by Scriptoriums.com. The staff of Scriptoriums.com reserves the right to make decisions regarding the program as well as to modify the rules of the challenge, as long as the initial offering of rewards is fully met. Any questions that arise will be decided by the staff of Scriptoriums.com.
  4. The goal of the challenge is to encourage Scripture memory and meditation.
  5. Registration for the challenge will begin on December 27, 2024, and end at midnight on January 7, 2025. Even though the challenge officially begins on January 1, you can still sign up until January 7, 2025.
  6. The challenge will begin on January 1, 2025, and end at midnight on April 24, 2025.
  7. The challenge consists of three parts. 1) Memorizing nine chapters from the Book of Revelation, Genesis 22, Psalm 22, Psalm 23, and Isaiah 53. 2) Reciting the current chapters in the time listed to a family member/friend with the allowed number of errors  3) Joining a monthly Zoom call to recite a chapter from memory.


ELIGIBILITY AND REGISTRATION


  1. Anyone residing in the USA, regardless of age, is eligible to register and earn rewards. Registration for those outside of the USA is subject to approval from the staff at Scriptoriums.com. Those residing outside the USA would need to have a recommendation from an approved USA citizen. Rewards for those outside of the USA would be distributed to the approved USA citizen for distribution to the participant.
  2. Registration is limited for the initial challenge to the first 20 people who register at Scriptoriums.com.
  3. The staff of Scriptoriums.com may also add additional registrants above 20 after assessing the number of additional requests.  Such additions to the number of registrants is based solely on the decision of the staff of Scriptoriums.com.
  4. The approved translations for the challenge are as follows: KJV, NKJV, NASB, ESV, CSB, and the 1984 NIV.


EARNING THE REWARD


  1. A cash reward of $20 per level will be earned by each registered person who completes the different levels of the challenge. There are 4 levels to this challenge and each level earns $20. A participant can earn $20 per level completed. You DO NOT have to complete all levels to earn a reward. 
  2. Level 1 - Revelation 1-3 (71 verses) -  January 2025
  3. Level 2 - Revelation 4-5, 19 (61 verses) -  February 2025
  4. Level 3 - Revelation 21-22, Genesis 22:1-19, (60 verses) -  March 2025
  5. Level 4 - Psalm 22, 23, Isaiah 53 (56 verses) -  April 1-24, 2025
  6. All levels must be completed by April 24, 2025 at midnight to be eligible for a reward.
  7. The reward will be sent in the form of a check to the home address provided during registration at the end of the contest (April 30, 2025).
  8. To earn the reward, the participant must memorize the chapters in Levels listed above and recite the chapters to a family member/friend during each month. Each level MUST be completed during the current month and recited from memory.
  9. The participant must complete the weekly Progress Report online to track your memory work.
  10. At the beginning of the following month we will host a one hour Zoom call and each participant will be asked to recite one of the chapters from memory to the group. It will be a random chapter from the current level. This means you will need to keep in memory all the chapters for that one month. If you cannot quote the chapter with the allowed errors, you will have two attempts during the call. If you can't quote the chapter after two tries, you will have to keep the chapters in memory and do the chapter the following month (plus the new chapters).
  11. If you quote the chapter within the allowable errors (see below), you will not have to keep that level current in the future. You can move on to the next level and not have to return to that level again. However, keeping what you have learned in your memory is highly encouraged.
  12. While the goal for the memory work is no errors, we understand that errors do occur despite the carefulness one puts into memorizing a passage. Therefore, for each 5 verses quoted you will be allowed 1 error. For example, Revelation 1 has 20 verses, therefore 4 errors would be allowed in chapter 1. Revelation 5 has 14 verses, therefore 2 errors would be allowed in chapter 5.
  13. If you have already memorized the chapters in each level, you are still able to earn the reward if you follow these guidelines and recite your verses according to the above guidelines.
  14. If you quote the chapter through the week and have more than the allowed errors, simply review the chapter and recite it again to a friend or relative.
  15. During the Zoom call, you will have two opportunities to quote your chapter with the allowable errors. If you cannot quote your chapter correctly in two attempts, you will need to retain all the chapters in that level until the next Zoom call the following month.
  16. Each chapter is to be recited in one sitting. For example, you cannot quote verses 1-20 one day, then 21-40 the next day.
  17. Each week you will go online to Scriptoriums.com and complete a progress form showing what you have quoted that week. This is to help you stay on track. When you click the SUBMIT button from the webpage, we will be able to see your progress.
  18. At the completion of the challenge, you will be reminded to fill out the earnings form and your cash reward will be sent to your home address in the form of a check. You can earn $20, $40, $60, or $80 based on how many levels you have completed.

FINAL COMMENTS


Our family’s goal is to glorify God in all we do. When we started the Scriptoriums.com website in 2015, our desire was to see the Word of God memorized by many people. We are thankful for the many Scriptorium events we have helped organize across the country to reach that goal. We are still continuing this effort going forward. Scriptorium events were started by Scripture Memory Fellowship in 2006. We have not changed our name or our purpose. Our desire is to keep this work going forward.


This challenge is a new idea, and we hope it is a blessing to many to encourage the memorization and retention of God’s Word. Please be understanding as issues may arise during the challenge.
